Merrimack, NH Station FN-42FV

Main Op Position

Main rig is a Yaesu FT-1000MP MK V with an Ameritron AL-811H, Dentron Super Tuner, and HRO Ham Keyer with Vibroplex  Single Paddle Key.

The antenna's currently are a HyGain TH5DXS for 20, 15, and 10, and a Carolina 160 Windom at 40 feet for 160-6 meters. The Astatic D-104 with crystal element provides crisp audio for the Yaesu's on board equalizer. I use an S9 43 Ft ground mounted Vertical with 16 radials for 80-12 meters. All antennas are switchable to any rig through an MFJ antenna switch.

QRP Norcal 40A

A Norcal 40A with Heathkit Keyer provides 1 watt to the antenna. The FT-101E was purchased new in 1978 and used mostly on 40 and 80 CW. The FT-857 provides the 6 meter beacon and UHF-VHF capability.

The Norcal 40A provides 1 watt to the Carolina 160 windom or the S9 vertical through the Dentron tuner. The FT101E is used on CW with the same antenna's on 40 and 80 and as a backup on 6 meters with the Yaesu transverter. For SSB I use an Astatic 10D dynamic microphone or a Heil DX5 element single muff headset. The FT-857 has a 4 element Cushcraft A147-4 up at 30 feet pointed at Boston for VHF/UHF and can use the Carolina 160 for the 6 meter beacon when active.

6 Meter Op Position

The FT-450/AT is used primarily for 6 meters with a diplexer and serves as a backup rig on HF. Also serves as the primary rig at the VE9 QTH in New Brunswick, Canada.

The FT-450/AT is connected to the Telrex 5 element 6 meter beam at 40 feet. It can also be used on any other antenna through the MFJ antenna switch and diplexer. I use the Heil DX4 element single muff headset with this radio.
